Explanation of Menu Options and Oracle Functions

File Menu Options

  • Direct access - Accessing form by using its seven-character name.

  • Object Search - Displays form used to search for a menu, form, job or QuickFlow. This can be used with a wildcard if part of the seven character name or part of the form description is known.

  • QuickFlow - Display QuickFlow form. A quick flow is a group of forms linked together to perform a related task.

  • Select - Returns you to the calling form and enter the selected value into the field that called the query form.

  • Rollback - Clears all information (except key information) and returns you to the first enterable field in the key block.

  • Save - Saves all changes entered since the last time you saved.

  • Refresh - Clears the message line and retrieves any newly updated information since the last query.

  • Print - Print the current windows with the date and time

  • Exit - In forms and windows, exits the form or window.
    • In main, exits from Banner.
    • In query, cancels the query and takes form out of query mode.

  • Exit Quick Flow - Exits you from Quick Flow.

  • Preferences - Displays the Personal Preferences Maintenance Form (GUAUPRF), which is used to customize Banner for individual users.

Item Menu Options

  • Previous - Move the cursor to the previous field that is enterable.

  • Next - Move the cursor to the next field that is enterable.

  • Clear - Clears all information from the current block or field on your display that is not a record or table.

  • Duplicate - In a blank row of a repeating record, duplicates the contents of the same field (item)in the previous record and copies it into the new record.

Record Menu Options

  • Previous - Moves the cursor to the first enterable field in the previous record and triggers previous record logic coded into the form.

  • Next - Moves the cursor to the first enterable field in the next record of the current block and triggers next record logic coded into the form. If the cursor is in the last record, a new record is created.

  • Scroll up - Scrolls up the list of repeating records.

  • Scroll down - Scrolls down the list of repeating records.

  • Clear - Clears all information from the current record. (Information is not removed from any records or tables.)

  • Remove - Removes all information for the current record. This will delete the record from the database when save/commit is pressed.

  • Insert - Inserts a new blank record into the list of existing records.

  • Duplicate - Duplicates the contents of all fields in the record and copies them into a new record.

Query Menu Options

  • Enter - Put the form into query mode so you can enter search criteria.

  • Execute - Searches the database and displays the first set of records that match your search criteria.

  • Last Criteria - Enter the criteria from your last search.

  • Cancel - Cancels the query and takes the form out of query mode.

  • Count Hits - Counts the number of records that match the search criteria. This can save on server traffic if the count is large.

  • Fetch Next Set - If more records meet the search criteria than fit in the window, replaces the current set of displayed records with the next set.

Help Menu Options

  • Show Keys - Displays the Keys list, which lists the functions and their equivalent keystrokes. Only currently available functions are displayed and will vary from form to form.

  • List - Displays the list of Values for the current field if List of Values appears in the status line.

  • Display Error - If an oracle error occurs, display the code that is in error.

Example: To access a known form and go to the next block, then next field - put in the seven-character form name in the Direct Access box on the main menu, press enter. After the requested form comes up, put in the valid key information in the key block and perform a next block. To move to the next enterable field of information, perform a next field. To exit the form, perform Exit.
