What runs this web site?
The Help Desk web page is maintained on a system called TWiki. TWiki is a web-based collaboration tool, document management tool, and knowledge base tool. This system allows the Help Desk to make changes to any of the pages on the site as they need to at any time.
How do I find something on this site?
If you cannot find what you are looking for under a Web then look for the navigation links at the bottom of the page. There are 4 different actions that you can perform here:
- Home Go to this Web's home page.
- Index Get a list of all pages in this Web
- Search Use the search engine to locate what you are looking for
- Go If you already know the Topic you want to go to, type it into the Go box, then hit "enter" on the keyboard (the topic name is case sensitive and has no spaces in it)
What is a Web?
This site is split up into the Webs. Webs are areas of related information that have been grouped together. These Webs are
- Help Desk (also called Main ) This Web contains general information about the Help Desk can be found.
- FAQs This Web contains Frequently Asked Questions that the Help Desk often answer.
- Tutorials? This Web contains Tutorials and information on where to locate Tutorials on campus.
- Howtos? This Web contains simple step-by-step guides on how to perform computer tasks.
- Procedures? This Web provides Operating Procedures and related information.
- Network This Web will give information about the Network Status on campus, expected downtimes and when maintenance will be conducted on the campus network, servers or our Internet connection.
What are those strange looking links?
As you browse through the web site you will notice links like this one?. The color coding and the question mark link mean that the link will be valid in the future, but for now there is no information behind it. The Help Desk uses these links to create the different web pages on this site.
The series of links at the bottom of the page ("Edit," "Attach," "Diffs," etc.) are for the Help Desk to manage the content of this site.
